February 4, 2012 The young Ashburton victim of a dog attack is out of intensive care at Starship Hospital and his parents are optimistic he will make a full recovery. The parents of the three-year-old Ashburton boy, who was bitten in the throat by a dog at a relative’s Ashburton house on January, have released a statement through the hospital, thanking their many well-wishers. “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent us cards and letters over the past couple of weeks, since our son was injured,” the boy’s parents said. “It has been a tremendous comfort to know that he has so much support and that people around New Zealand are wishing him well. “We’re thrilled to report that he is recovering well and has been out of the intensive care unit at Starship Children’s Health for a few days now. “He has had lots of surgery so far and there is a long way to go but we’re feeling really optimistic that he’ll make a full recovery.” They said in particular they would like to thank a little girl from Mt Eden called Phoebe, aged 4, who sent the boy a lovely card telling him to get better soon. “The card didn’t have a return address but we were really touched by it so thank you, Phoebe.” |
