When it comes to finding out results from end-of-year examinations, it can be a nervous wait for students.
And in most cases, it's worth the wait. That was the case for 18-year-old twins Reuben and Corey Head, who yesterday found out they had gained their NCEA Level 3 certificate after completing their exams at the end of 2011. Corey had to wait until after work to look at his results and said they were as expected. In his final year at secondary school, he chose to take English, history, mathematics with calculus, classics and chemistry. "Some of the exams were harder than others and calculus was quite difficult compared to what we had done through the year," he said. Reuben also sat the calculus exam and agreed it was the hardest. His other subjects were graphics, physics, computing and history and he admits he found the examinations quite hard. "Other people who sat the exam also thought it was quite hard so it wasn't just me," he said. His results weren't quite what he was expecting, or hoping for, but he was pleased to have still passed. He checked his results earlier in the day after seeing people comment about their results on Facebook. He will now head to the army this year, while Corey will attend Victoria University in Wellington for a bachelor of arts, majoring in media studies.
