Showjumping action

February 4, 2912

The New Zealand National Showjumping and Showhunter Championships is in its 17th year with the three days of action-packed jumping competition coming to McLean’s Island in Christchurch.

The event has attracted some of the big names in the sport, including a huge contingent of North Island riders, competing for national honours, not to mention vital national series’ points.  Although short on numbers the premier class, the NZ Senior Championship, boasts an all-star line-up including two-time Olympian Daniel Meech on the ultra-impressive mare Argento. He will face some tough South Island competition from Ashburton’s Susie Hayward on her starry stallion Andretti and Christchurch’s Ross Smith on Quite Cassini, as well as Tessa Williams (Gisborne) Alltech Craighaven Nitro and Carrisa McGregor (Christchurch) on Chatterton. Competition will be tight across all levels with the finals on February 12.
