Cameron Grant just cannot get enough golf.
He has not spent as much time on the golf course as he would have wanted but Cameron plans to change that.
Last weekend his accuracy off the tee saw him take out the 2011 Long Drive Championship of New Zealand in his first attempt at a long drive competition. Now studying science down at Otago University, Grant said that his education had taken precedence over his golf but he aims to make more time to get back on the course. "Being down in Dunedin I haven't played as much as I would have liked," he said. "But now that I'm on holidays I'll be trying to get out on the course as much as possible." Although his time wandering along greens and fairways may have diminished this year, he still found time to play some representative golf for Otago. His biggest milestone to date was playing at the interprovincials where he played at number two for Aorangi, but now calling Otago home for a majority of the year he is taking aim at pushing into the Otago team for next year's interprovincials. "I played a few rep games for Otago but I didn't make the cut for the interprovincials. "They have some pretty good golfers at the moment and some strong competition for places but hopefully I can be in some form at the right time." At only 19 years old and currently playing off a two handicap, after a holiday spent on course Grant will be one to watch next year.
