July 28, 2009 The Ashburton Car Club could not have asked for better weather for what was one of the busiest weekend's on its event calendar. The club started with its annual spring day at the Levels International Raceway in Timaru on Saturday before hosting an autocross at Tony Srhoy's Lowcliffe property on Sunday. Levels was an interclub event for Canterbury car clubs and attracted a turnout of 42 competitors, which one of those behind the event, Richard Bowater, said was "fantastic". He said the range of competitors, vehicles and abilities varied, with people aged from 15 through to their 70s making the most of the perfect track conditions. Ricky Matheson took out the day's racing in an RX7, followed by Carl Vaughan and Ashburton's Tim Cook. Sunday's autocross attracted 12 drivers and the day's racing was taken out by Bowater in his Mitsubishi Evo3, in a time of 2.53.31 minutes, with Shane Rogers about six seconds behind in a Subaru Legacy.
