Rowers hit form at the right time

March 11 2010

Students from Ashburton College warmed up for this weekend's sailing regatta at Lake Hood at the Rotary Canterbury Secondary Schools Regatta.

The College had a team of seven compete this year at what is a large regatta involving about 80 sailors, held at the Mt Pleasant Yacht Club on the Christchurch Estuary.

With the Firebug Regatta being held this weekend, the South Island championships for the class, Caitlin Swan had the perfect warm up, coming first in the firebug class.

She was followed home by fellow Ashburton sailor Jesse Woods in second, and James Woods came in
fifth.

In the Laser Class Matt Bassett finished in second place with Ross Allott back in fifth.

In the Sunburst class Maisie Fleming and Cait Bassett were sixth equal, but will have a chance to separate at the South Island Secondary Schools regatta in Dunedin starting on March 22.
