King takes major spoils at Bonanza

The Ashburton Golf Club held its annual two day Brandon Bonanza tournament over the weekend.

The overall winner of the 36 hole tournament was Jason King with a net score of 131 with rounds of 64 and 67.MooreKG

Nathan Milne was runner up three shots back on 134.

Catherine Knight won the women's grade with the best nett score of 145, narrowly edging out runner up Karen Bishop who finished one shot back, while Catherine Bell recorded the best gross score.

The junior men section was claimed by John Moses, Mike Kelly took out the intermediate and Glen Rolleston won the senior men.

The next major event at the club will be a New Zealand classic world cup qualifying event on April 3.

The New Zealand classic is a national two ball Ambrose competition that is available to men's, ladies and mixed teams.

The next qualifying round is at the Methven Golf Course on Sunday March 14 followed by Terrace Downs on March 17 then the qualifying round at Ash-
burton.

The winning pair at each qualifying event then head to the national finals which are also held at Terrace Downs.

The winners of the national finals receive the ultimate prize of a trip to Las Vegas to compete against other international finalists.
