Kevin Donaldson bought 12 store lambs and ewes at the Tinwald saleyards yesterday to do duty on his 20-acre farmlet, where grass is growing like wildfire.
The firefighter runs about 150 sheep on the property and said the new arrivals would help take care of this year’s lush growth. Kevin and wife Glenda share the stock duties, with the mob rounded up for shearers this week. Good forward store lambs sold up to $116 at Tuesday’s weekly sheep sale, with an advertised line of 268 romney lambs selling between $80-112. A small yarding of prime stock was also on offer at the saleyards, with top heavy prime lambs selling for up to $180, medium lambs made $120-144 and light lambs $100-119. The best heavy prime ewes made $162, with medium ewes $110-134 and light ewes $70-109.
