September 11 2010 Doing their bit to clean up Kaiapoi after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake this week were the Charlie's Takeaways team of (from left) Charlie Tomlin, Bob Lambie and Brian Wilson, from Rakaia. They've been dealing with the aftermath of the quake since Tuesday and have been working 12-hour days to ensure that the clean-up happens as quickly as possible.
On Thursday when the Guardian found them hard at work, they were cleaning the sewers and getting all of the fine silt out of the drains. Mr Tomlin said when his team first arrived to help it looked to be a daunting task but they'd just started at the beginning and made good progress. |
