No X-ray services

September 4 2010

Routine X-ray services will not be available in Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) hospitals from 7am on Tuesday until 7am on Wednesday. The unavailability of X-ray services is due to industrial action by Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) belonging to the APEX union.

Green light for gallery

A new museum and art gallery on West Street is a step closer with the granting of resource consent yesterday. Ashburton District Council chief executive Brian Lester said he was delighted with the outcome and the project could now move forward with some certainty.

Chase called off

A car believed to have been stolen earlier in the night, led Ashburton police on a brief but speedy pursuit on Thursday night. The car reached speeds of at least 178km/h during the pursuit before police decided it was too dangerous and abandoned the chase.

Meteor magic

The Ashburton Aviation Museum is on the way to having New Zealand's premier jet collection with their latest addition, the Gloster Meteor. Since they first brokered the deal to buy the Meteor the museum has since been engaged in a bidding battle for a Soviet MiG-21 Fishbed, a cold war classic.
